About The Qualification


This certificate is designed to introduce the significance of the halal industry and concept of Halal logistics and supply chain management as well as its importance to accommodate today’s market demand. It demonstrates the way how halal supply chain could be implemented particularly in the development of halal supply chain assurance management system including the quality assurance. This course also guides the participants in managing the halal supply chain practices.

The modules have been developed to qualify the participants to be nominated as the professionally competent person as a Halal Executive for logistics companies based on OIC/SMIIC 17 series of standards. A Halal Executive is especially needed to those logistics companies who would like to apply for a halal certification for their transport, warehouse and retail in meeting the need of the customers.

The Standard Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC) is an institute developing necessary mechanisms for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, aims at setting new standards in the Member States and eliminating technical barriers to trade and thus facilitating trade among themselves. SMIIC Member States have put their tremendous efforts and expertise in the SMIIC Technical Committee on Halal Supply Chain (TC 10) to prepare new OIC/SMIIC Standards in Halal supply chain management system.


OIC/SMIIC 17 Series

The halal supply chain links producers of products, goods and/ or cargo with consumers. The pipeline provides assurance that products, goods and/ or cargo delivered from one custodian to another is in accordance with halal requirements, thus preserving the halal integrity of the products, goods and/ or cargo. The halal supply chain has been translated into a set of management system requirements standards which comprise of the following: − Transportation − Warehousing − Retailing.

Mandatory Units

To achieve this qualification student must complete four mandatory units, as detailed below:


HSC-M1: Introduction to Halal Supply Chain and its Implementation

This unit introduces the concept of halal supply chain, its principle as well as its significance. Learning how to implement halal transportation as well as halal warehousing and storage.


HSC-M2: Administration of Halal Supply Chain

This unit delivers the core processes of establishing the halal supply chain business and practices i.e., the establishment of halal supply chain assurance system that also comprises the internal audit establishment.


HSC-M3: Halal Supply Chain Quality Assurance

This unit demonstrates how quality assurance of the halal supply chain is achieved through the identification of halal supply chain control points as well as the verification procedures throughout the process.


HSC-M4: Halal Supply Chain Certification

This units introduces the general halal certification process as well as focusing on the preparation of the documentation and procedure for certification.
